What is SESREG?
The Seagrass Restoration and Ecosystem Services Research Group (SESREG), located within the Marine Science Department at Hasanuddin University, focuses on advancing research and conservation of tropical seagrass ecosystems. We specialize in monitoring meadow health and developing innovative restoration techniques, including customized seagrass transplantation and seed propagation suited for tropical regions.
At SESREG, our focus extends beyond habitat restoration. We assess essential regulating services such as carbon capture, water purification, and shoreline protection, along with their direct socio-economic advantages for coastal communities. By conducting interdisciplinary research and forming strategic collaborations with scientists, policymakers, and local stakeholders, we connect scientific insights with practical actions to ensure resilient marine ecosystems for future generations.
