Makassar, June 5, 2025 — The Peace, Conflict and Democracy Research Group (TRG) held its routine coordination meeting on June 5, 2025. The meeting focused on planning the timeline for upcoming data collection activities and the writing of the group’s research article.
This intensive session discussed several key aspects of the research process, including the timeline of activities and the research instruments to be used. The team agreed on the following schedule:
TRG Research Timeline:
- June 2025: Preparation for data collection
- June 5–15: Literature review and collection of articles relevant to the research problem.
- June 20: Meeting to discuss and finalize the research instruments.
- July 2025: Field data collection.
- August 2025: Drafting the research article.
Research Instruments and Data Collection Strategy
To ensure the validity and richness of the research findings, both secondary and primary data sources will be utilized:
- Secondary Data: Research results from I-CORE will be used as supporting data.
- Primary Data: To be collected through interviews with selected informants.
Informant selection will be based on two main criteria:
- Regions with significant conflict and strong involvement of local actors.
- Duration of the informant’s tenure in their respective roles.
The initial draft of the interview instruments will be prepared Andi Ahmad Yani and will serve as the foundation for the primary data collection process. Interestingly, in this research model, the data collectors will also be directly involved in analyzing the data, allowing for a more integrated and efficient workflow.
This meeting marks an important starting point for the research, which focuses on conflict dynamics and the role of local actors in peacebuilding efforts. All team members are expected to actively contribute throughout each phase of the research to produce impactful and high-quality academic output.
