Makassar, Indonesia, May 6, 2026/BIONE/—The Biopesticides and Natural Enemies Research Group (TRG BIONE) conducted a collaborative discussion aimed at strengthening and refining its future research roadmap in sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly pest management. The activity served as a platform for exchanging scientific ideas, identifying research priorities, and exploring opportunities for international academic collaboration.
The discussion involved ten participants consisting of researchers, TRG members, students, and invited collaborators. One of the international collaborators participating in the activity was Dr. Ravindra Chandra Joshi (Philippine Rice Research Institute), who shared perspectives on current global developments in biological control and sustainable agricultural innovation. The activity was led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Itji Diana Daud, M.S. together with other TRG members and participants. Researchers who actively participated in the discussion included Wardani Syahrani and Erna, while the student participants involved were Davina Nur Anita, Sitti Nurmala Saharuddin, and Anisa Ardani Kalista.
During the discussion, participants explored several major topics related to sustainable pest management, including integrated pest management, biological control agents, biodiversity conservation, and environmentally friendly alternatives to synthetic pesticides. The session also discussed several pest control approaches that have been previously developed by the TRG, including the application of Trichoderma spp. species for controlling Fusarium spp. disease. In addition, Dr. Ravindra Chandra Joshi shared his research experiences and introduced broader perspectives on global agricultural research trends, particularly in biological control and sustainable agricultural innovation. The discussion also highlighted opportunities for future interdisciplinary collaboration and international research partnerships.
This activity provided a productive environment for sharing scientific experiences and research perspectives related to sustainable pest management strategies. Furthermore, the interaction among researchers, students, and international collaborators is expected to encourage future collaboration in research projects, scientific publications, and academic exchange programs.
