Maros – The Faculty of Economics and Business, Hasanuddin University, through the Community Service Team of Internal Main Performance Improvement Grant (HIBAH KIPKU) FEB Unhas for Fiscal Year 2025, held an audience with Dinas Koperasi, UKM, Perindustrian, dan Perdagangan (Dinas Kopurindag) Kabupaten Maros on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Dinas Kopurindag Kabupaten Maros office. This audience discussed plans to empower MSMEs through strengthening non-confrontational adaptation strategies in facing urban spatial planning changes in Maros Regency.
The Head of Dinas Kopurindag Kabupaten Maros, Andi Samsophyan, SE., MM., welcomed this collaboration as a form of synergy between universities and local government in empowering micro-businesses. “This program is very strategic for our MSMEs facing the dynamics of infrastructure development and urban planning. We are ready to fully support by facilitating the selection of target MSMEs and coordinating activity implementation,” said Andi Samsophyan during the meeting.
The Head of the Thematic Research Group Non-market Strategy Team at Hasanuddin University, Abdullah Sanusi, S.E., M.B.A., Ph.D., explained that this program aims to equip MSMEs with the ability to adapt without confronting development policies. “We want MSMEs to have resilience in facing business environment changes, particularly those caused by spatial planning changes and infrastructure development. Non-confrontational strategy will be the key to their business sustainability,” explained Abdullah Sanusi, who will also be a workshop speaker with the theme “Resilience Without Resistance”.
The Head of the Community Service Team of HIBAH KIPKU FEB Unhas 2025 with the title “MSME Empowerment Through Strengthening Non-Confrontational Adaptation Strategy”, Baginda Hamzah, S.T., M.B.A., added that this program provides not only theoretical but also practical training. “We will conduct a series of workshops and FGDs involving MSMEs from 5 priority sub-districts in Maros. The materials we have prepared include entrepreneurship and digital marketing, which are very relevant in today’s era,” stated Baginda Hamzah, who will present the material “Entrepreneurship and Digital Marketing”.
Community service team member Rianda Ridho Hafizh Thaha, S.E., M.B.A., emphasized the importance of risk management for MSMEs. “In facing business uncertainty, MSMEs need to have solid risk management capabilities and business strategies. The workshops we organize will provide practical tools that can be directly implemented by business actors,” explained Rianda, who will be a speaker for the theme “Risk Management and Business Strategy”.
This program targets MSMEs located in development corridors or planning areas in 5 priority sub-districts: Maros Baru, Turikale, Lau, Marusu, and Bantimurung. The criteria for MSMEs to be empowered are those that have been operating for at least 1-2 years, have development potential, and are willing to fully participate in the empowerment program.
The Faculty of Economics and Business, Hasanuddin University, provides full support for this program as a form of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This MSME empowerment program aligns with the faculty’s vision to contribute concretely to community economic development, particularly in strengthening the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises in South Sulawesi.
This audience resulted in agreements on the mechanism for selecting target MSMEs, the schedule for implementing workshops and FGDs, as well as the format for ongoing coordination between Unhas and Dinas Kopurindag. This program is expected not only to provide short-term impacts in terms of increased knowledge and skills but also to create systemic changes in how Maros Regency MSMEs face the dynamics of development and business environment changes.
This collaboration is concrete evidence of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Hasanuddin University’s commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the aspect of community service, as well as the commitment of Maros Regency Government to empowering the people’s economy through MSME strengthening.
