On Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS), we proudly announced the signing of the Laboratory-based Education (LBE) 2025 Grant Contracts. This program is a cornerstone of UNHAS’s efforts to accelerate its research strategy, expand collaboration networks between universities domestically and internationally, and enhance the quality of education through innovative research.
Two groundbreaking projects from our lab have been awarded funding of USD 860 under this grant. The first project focuses on assessing the readiness of Indonesian marine graduates to meet the demands of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) era. By addressing skill gaps in critical areas such as data analysis, programming, and machine learning applications, this research aims to align marine education outcomes with industry needs. Additionally, it evaluates the integration of interdisciplinary approaches into marine curricula to better prepare students for modern challenges.
The second project evaluates the dynamic motion responses of three types of floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) structures. This research seeks to provide a clear guideline for selecting optimal designs tailored to specific offshore wind energy development sites across Indonesia. The findings are expected to serve as a key reference in mapping the most suitable floating structures for various locations, advancing Indonesia’s leadership in renewable energy innovation.
