Introduction
Welcome to Research Group
Indonesia has many maritime potential resources, namely oil and gas as well as renewable energy resources such as wave, current, tidal and ocean thermal. The floating structures play an important role in exploration of the resources. Floating structures like mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU), SPAR, floating storage are important for exploration of oil and gas in deep seas. The trend corresponding to the ocean energy conversion, the floating converter becomes an interesting issue mainly for wave energy conversion because it may be combined with the others renewable energy resources such as solar and wind energies. The challenge is how to design the floating body with highest efficiency wave energy conversion. In other hand, as an archipelago country, reliable and safe sea transportation is necessary to ensure the logistic distribution as well as for ocean tourism purpose. The ship should be design with acceptable safety standard and reduce air pollution induced by exhaust emission of ship engine. To reduce fuel consumption of a ship, the ship should be designed with high performance of maneuvering. For safety purpose, minimum safety standard/criteria should be developed. In the other hand, safety devices such as anti-rolling device, damping plate for floating body like SPAR should be design and to be used to increase the safety of floating body. The floating body should be constructed with material environmentally friendly with enough strength and resistant to corrosion. The other important aspect corresponding to the material is anti-corrosion coating. Therefore, researches corresponding to the floating structures considering the performance, safety and sustainability are important to utilize the energy resources in ocean as well as to distribute the resources to other places. The ocean tourism is also important to develop in the future with comfort and high safety level. |
