TRG 2025 Grant Contract Signed for Maritime Safety Research

Date & Venue: Friday, March 7, 2025 | LPPM UNHAS Hall

We are excited to announce the signing of the TRG 2025 Grant Contract , awarding our lab USD 3,600 for a vital research project: Developing Stability Criteria for Traditional Wooden Ships. This initiative supports safer small-scale fisheries and maritime navigation while preserving cultural heritage.

About TRG Grant Program

The Thematic Research Group (TRG) program fosters interdisciplinary collaboration to drive innovation and deliver impactful solutions for society and the economy.

Project Focus

Traditional wooden ships lack standardized stability criteria, posing safety risks during operations. Our study aims to design tailored stability guidelines to enhance safety, support sustainable fishing, and protect traditional shipbuilding practices.

Key Objectives:

  • Improve maritime safety for fishermen and navigators.
  • Promote environmentally friendly fishing practices.
  • Safeguard Indonesia’s maritime cultural heritage.

A Safer Maritime Future

Prof. Daeng Paroka, PhD, the project lead, shared, “This grant enables us to address critical safety gaps and support sustainable maritime practices.”

Join us as we work toward safer seas and a brighter future for Indonesia’s blue economy.
