To commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Department of Governmental Studies at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin, organized a series of academic activities under the theme “Environmental Policy for a Sustainable Future of Indonesia.” This initiative underscores the strategic role of academic institutions in addressing environmental crises through data-driven policy research and adaptive governance approaches.
As part of its contribution to national development, the Department of Governmental Studies actively conducts research on environmental policies and governance. These studies are published in reputable academic journals and formulated into policy briefs to inform decision-making processes at both local and national levels. The research adopts data-driven approaches, including bibliometric analysis and case studies, to evaluate the direction and effectiveness of environmental policies within both global and local contexts.
“Commemorating independence is not only about honoring history, but also about shaping Indonesia’s future to be more resilient and sustainable. We firmly believe that sound environmental governance is key to the nation’s long-term resilience,” said the Head of the Department of Governmental Studies in his opening remarks.
In conjunction with the event, the Department also launched its 2023–2024 annual report on environmental policy research. This report is expected to serve as a reference for policymakers, scholars, and civil society actors in strengthening cross-sector collaboration.
The Department of Governmental Studies remains open to collaborative research and policy advocacy with various stakeholders, including government institutions, NGOs, and local communities, in support of Indonesia’s sustainable development agenda.
