The Role of Institutions in Community Health Control: Case of Drugs Hazard Management in Lawawoi Village, Sidrap Regency, by the Institute for Research and Community Service, 2021
2021

Drug abuse has become a serious public health problem in South Sulawesi Province, transcending economic and social strata. Data from the South Sulawesi National Narcotics Agency in 2016 showed the dominance of elementary school graduates in drug abuse, with 217 of the 577 suspects coming from this group. Sidrap Regency is an area of special concern after Makassar, with an increase in cases from 110 in 2016 to 140 cases in 2017. To overcome this, an active role is needed from social institutions and community groups as the front line in controlling public health, starting from anticipation, prevention, adaptation, to recovery of public health conditions affected by drugs.

Village Innovation Modeling of Pepper Farming Businesses in East Luwu Regency, by WCU Hasanuddin University, 2022
2022

This study examines the development of pepper farming in East Luwu Regency using the Triple Helix model involving collaboration between the government, universities, and business actors. Although Indonesia has the largest land for pepper production, its productivity is still low compared to other pepper-producing countries. In East Luwu, pepper farmers face three main challenges: unstable selling prices, inactive institutions, and dependence on a contract system with investors. To overcome this, the study recommends the application of the Triple Helix model as a framework that integrates the roles of the government as policy makers, universities as producers of innovation and knowledge, and business actors as guarantors of fair marketing.
