Real-Time Microclimate Monitoring

As part of their final undergraduate project at the Geophysics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Hasanuddin University, two students have developed an environmental monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The system focuses on microclimate monitoring and was implemented in two different settings: a greenhouse at the Faculty of Agriculture and a closed-house poultry farm at the Faculty of Animal Science, Hasanuddin University.

The project, carried out by Siti Fathana Azh Zahra and Ratnalia, utilizes an ESP32 microcontroller connected to a BME280 sensor for measuring temperature and humidity, as well as a TEMT6000 sensor for detecting light intensity. The system was programmed using the Arduino IDE to enable real-time data acquisition and wireless transmission via Wi-Fi. Data is stored in an InfluxDB database and visualized using Grafana, allowing users to monitor environmental conditions remotely and continuously.

Tutorial and demonstration videos has been prepared to support the explanation and implementation of the developed system. The videos are accessible via the following link below:Â
