Our Mission
(1) Developing Technology-Based Research:
To apply geospatial technology, AI, and cloud computing to generate comprehensive data and models on ecosystem dynamics and climate change impacts, supporting more effective natural resource management.
(2) Providing Innovative Solutions:
To develop and implement innovative methods and tools for governments, communities, and the private sector in efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
(3) Strengthening Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
To build strategic partnerships with researchers, practitioners, and policymakers across various disciplines to create holistic, sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
(4) Supporting the Achievement of SDGs: To actively contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focused on climate action, sustainable ecosystems on land and in the sea, and the sustainable management of water and urban resources.
(5) Raising Public Awareness: To enhance public and stakeholder awareness of the importance of sustainable ecosystem management and the impacts of climate change through the dissemination of research findings and educational activities.
The Aim
(1) Innovative Research Development: SECRG aims to develop and apply innovative methods in monitoring, mitigating, and adapting to the impacts of climate change on ecosystems. This includes exploring geospatial technology, cloud computing, AI, and ecosystem modeling to generate data-driven solutions that can be implemented in natural resource management.
(2) Advancing Environmental Understanding:
The primary goal of SECRG is to deepen scientific understanding of environmental dynamics and the challenges faced by vulnerable ecosystems. Through research and analysis, SECRG seeks to provide new insights that can support better management policies and practices.
(3) Supporting Evidence-Based Policy:
SECRG is committed to contributing to the development of more effective natural resource management policies by providing robust data and analysis to support decision-making. This includes collaboration with policymakers, local communities, and international organizations to implement sustainable solutions.
(4) Supporting the Achievement of SDGs: SECRG focuses on supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to climate action, life on land, clean water, sustainable cities and communities, and life below water. SECRG’s research and innovations are designed to align with these global goals and foster positive environmental impacts.
(5) Facilitating Interdisciplinary Collaboration: SECRG aims to build a strong collaborative network among various disciplines, both within and outside Universitas Hasanuddin. This ensures that the research conducted is not only comprehensive but also practically applicable across different sectors.
