Productivity and Anthocyanin Improvement of Functional Cayenne Pepper through Transgressive Segregant Selection of Three-Way Cross Population

This research focuses on enhancing the productivity and anthocyanin content of cayenne pepper through transgressive segregant selection in a three-way cross population. By combining genetic traits from three different parental lines, the study aims to develop superior cayenne pepper varieties with improved yield and functional properties. The selection process identifies individuals that outperform their parents in desirable traits, particularly anthocyanin accumulation, which has health benefits. The findings contribute to the development of high-yield, nutritionally enhanced cayenne pepper varieties suitable for commercial cultivation.

Evaluation of Mutant 1 of Chrysanthemum morifolium Polyploidization Results of Colchicine at Various Concentrations of BAP In-Vitro

The focus of this research is to polyploidize chrysanthemum plants (Chrysantemun morifolium) at various concentrations and lengths of colchicine immersion through in-vitro mutagenesis and test the level of ploidy stability of chrysanthemum plants. This is in line with the Unhas Research Strategic Plan (RENSTRA) designed with the aim of realizing Unhas as a research university by increasing the quality and quantity of research that can be the basis for the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education. This research is directed at developing biotechnological agricultural cultivation technology through tissue culture to obtain new mutated seeds as a superior research theme at Hasanuddin University.

Polyploidization of Chrysanthemum (Chrysantemun morifolium) Plants at Various Concentrations and Duration of Colchicine Immersion through In-Vitro Mutagenesis

Chrysanthemum (Chrysantemun morifolium) is one of the most popular ornamental plants in Indonesia since the last decade.
has a high economic value and has been very popular in Indonesia since the last two decades. Demand for chrysanthemums tends to increase every year. Chrysanthemums are the second largest globally traded cut flower after roses. Demand for cut flowers and potted chrysanthemum plants in the domestic and international markets is increasing from year to year. The development of chrysanthemum production in Indonesia has increased during the 2015-2020 period with an average growth of 37.12% per year. The large demand for chrysanthemum plants is not proportional to the supply of parent plants and the quality of flowers desired by the market. The number of mother plants is not enough to fulfill the availability of seeds for chrysanthemum propagation. The way that can be used to overcome the problem of chrysanthemum seed availability is by tissue culture and increasing the quantity, quality and continuity of chrysanthemum flower production can be done by breeding techniques including by mutation in vitro.
