Palu Valley shallots are one of Central Sulawesi’s leading commodities used as raw material for the fried shallot industry and have become Palu’s local brand. However, problems arise when the number of bulbs required is almost half of the production. Efforts can be made to increase production by producing larger bulbs by character improvement through polyploidization using colchicine and bio-catharantin mutagens.
