ABSTRACT

Particulate matter (PM) is an air pollutant that can increase the risk of health problems from exposure. Variations in weather conditions influenced by global climate phenomena, such as El Niño and La Niña, can affect the concentration levels and distribution patterns of PM in the atmosphere. This research aims to investigate the impact of two ENSO phases (El Niño and La Niña) on PM concentrations generated by factory emissions in the area of PT Semen Tonasa, Pangkep. The data used include PM concentration, wind speed and direction, temperature, and humidity downloaded from the relevant website. The results showed that changes in weather conditions, such as increasing temperature and decreasing humidity during El Niño, and high rainfall and humidity during La Niña, had a significant impact on the concentration and distribution of PM in the area around the factory. These findings provide important insights into the relationship between weather variations and air quality, and provide a basis for environmental management and mitigation of air pollution impacts in industrial areas.
