Welcome to Blue Economics  Research Group

The Blue Economics Research Group is a dedicated center of excellence focused on advancing sustainable blue economy practices in Indonesia. Guided by its vision to become a leading research and innovation hub by 2034, the group integrates high-impact research, community empowerment, and strategic collaborations to address pressing issues in marine and coastal ecosystems.

Our mission is to produce world-class research that informs public policy, empowers coastal communities through technology and innovation, enhances human resource capacities in the blue economy sector, and strengthens partnerships with national and international stakeholders. The group’s objectives include fostering sustainable aquaculture, addressing climate change impacts, promoting eco-friendly marine tourism, advancing renewable ocean energy, and ensuring the conservation of marine ecosystems.

With a structured 2025–2030 roadmap, the group focuses on:

  1. Exploration and Foundational Research: Developing sustainability indicators, adaptive aquaculture models, and ecosystem-based business strategies.
  2. Innovation and Collaboration: Creating low-emission technologies, advocating strategic policies, and establishing regional training hubs.
  3. Replication and Scalability: Expanding successful models, exploring renewable ocean energy, and fostering international partnerships.
  4. Evaluation and Sustainability: Conducting comprehensive impact assessments, formulating governance frameworks, and disseminating global knowledge.

Through these efforts, the Blue Economics Research Group aims to contribute significantly to the welfare of coastal communities, the protection of marine ecosystems, and inclusive economic growth, positioning itself as a key player in shaping the future of Indonesia’s blue economy
