Fishery Product Technology Students of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Hasanuddin University, Conduct Integrated Field Practice at the Pinrang Algae Marine Biota Company

Students of the Fishery Products Technology Study Program, Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University, conducted an Integrated Field Practice at PT Biota Laut Ganggang (BLG), Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi, on Monday, October 13, 2025.

The activity involved students from the 2023 cohort as part of an integrated learning program for two courses: Quality Control and Assurance of Fishery Products and Sanitation and Hygiene in Fishery Industries, supervised by Dr. Ir. Nursinah Amir, S.Pi., MP.

The program was supported by Parepare Customs Office, which provided a presentation on bonded company regulations, export licensing, and raw material management. Meanwhile, BLG introduced students to the production process of seaweed and porang-based products, including semi refined carrageenan, refined carrageenan, agar-agar, and konjac powder, which are exported to China, Europe, and the United States.

Students also observed the implementation of HACCP, GMP, and SSOP standards in the production process. The Head of the Study Program, Dr. Syahrul, S.Pi., MP., expressed his appreciation for the company’s warm welcome and learning opportunities provided to the students.

This field practice serves as a concrete example of FIKP Unhas’s commitment to integrating academic learning with industrial experience, as well as strengthening collaboration among the university, industry, and government in developing human resources in the field of fishery product technology.
