The Research Group on Social Epidemiology of Non-Communicable Diseases (TRG SE NCD) FKM Unhas Conducts Research and Community Service Activities for Prolanis Members at Kassi-Kassi Public Health Center, Makassar

Makassar, 14 June 2025 — The Research Group on Social Epidemiology of Non-Communicable Diseases (TRG SE NCD) from the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University (FKM Unhas), conducted a combined research and community service initiative targeting members of the Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) at the Kassi-Kassi Public Health Center in Makassar.

The initiative aimed to enhance public awareness—particularly among individuals living with non-communicable diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus (DM) of their health status. The team carried out a series of health screenings, including blood pressure checks, blood glucose and cholesterol measurements, and blood sample collection for Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) testing and genetic analysis.

In addition to the medical screenings, participants received education on managing non-communicable diseases. One key educational resource distributed was a pocketbook titled Companion Guide for Managing Anxiety in Diabetes Mellitus Patients. This booklet is designed to support patients in independently managing their emotional well-being as part of a holistic approach to diabetes care.
