Makassar, Indonesia April 22 2026/PMN-RG/ – Imagine a simple mobile application that can help parents monitor their child’s growth, learn about proper nutrition, and even consult health experts—all in one place. In Indonesia, where stunting remains a serious public health issue, this idea is no longer just a dream. It is becoming a reality through a digital innovation called the SEHATI Super App.
Stunting is not just about a child being shorter than average. It reflects chronic malnutrition that can affect brain development, learning ability, and future productivity. According to the study, millions of children worldwide still suffer from malnutrition, and Indonesia continues to face a high prevalence of stunting. This makes it clear that new and effective strategies are urgently needed.
One promising solution comes from integrating health education into digital technology. The study developed a “super app” called SEHATI (Sistem Evaluasi Kesehatan Anak Tumbuh Ideal), designed as a one-stop platform for stunting prevention and management. Unlike traditional health programs, this app combines multiple features in one system—making it practical, accessible, and user-friendly.
The app includes several important features. First, it allows parents to monitor their child’s growth using charts such as weight-for-age and height-for-age. Second, it provides educational content for mothers, children, and even environmental health. Third, it offers consultation services with health professionals. These features are clearly illustrated in the diagram on page 7 of the article, showing how the app integrates monitoring, education, and consultation into one platform.
What makes this innovation even more powerful is its impact. The study showed that mothers who used the SEHATI app experienced a significant increase in knowledge about stunting prevention after the intervention (P=.001). This means that digital tools can play a crucial role in improving awareness and empowering parents to take better care of their children.
This initiative strongly aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, which focuses on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages. By improving maternal knowledge and supporting early detection of growth problems, the SEHATI app contributes directly to better health outcomes for children.
Moreover, the app is designed to be accessible even in areas with limited internet access, as it can be used offline. This is particularly important in rural communities where health services may be limited. It shows that technology, when designed thoughtfully, can bridge the gap between knowledge and access.
In today’s digital era, health solutions must evolve beyond traditional methods. The SEHATI super app demonstrates that innovation does not always require complex systems—it simply needs to meet people’s real needs in a practical way. By empowering parents with knowledge and tools, we can take a significant step toward reducing stunting and building a healthier future generation.
