Neurogenetics Research Group

Neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson’s Disease (PD), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), vascular dementia, sporadic PD, and other related disorders, are complex conditions marked by progressive neuronal loss, cognitive decline, and motor impairments. In addition, other neurological disorders including vascular diseases such as stroke, or neurophysiologic disorders such as epilepsy, have recently been a focus in molecular genetic advances due to the strong link between genes and phenotypical changes in these conditions. Despite global advancements in understanding the pathophysiology of these diseases, the genetic factors underpinning their development remain poorly understood, particularly in underrepresented populations.
