Neonatal Epidemiology
Our research group focuses on advancing knowledge in neonatal epidemiology to improve the health and survival of newborns. We study the distribution, causes, and prevention of neonatal diseases through data-driven research and clinical collaboration. By identifying key risk factors and developing evidence-based strategies, we aim to support better outcomes for vulnerable infants and strengthen the quality of neonatal care in Indonesia and beyond.
Neonatal Stress and Developmental Care
Our research group explores how stress affects the growth and development of newborns, particularly those requiring intensive care. We focus on understanding the physiological and behavioral responses to stress and on designing interventions that promote comfort, stability, and bonding. Through developmental care approaches such as gentle handling, sensory regulation, and family-centered support. We aim to create healing environments that optimize neurodevelopment and improve long-term outcomes for infants in the NICU.
Neonatal Genetic and Birth Defect
Our research group investigates the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to birth defects and developmental abnormalities in newborns. We aim to understand how genetic variations, prenatal conditions, and maternal health influence neonatal outcomes. Through clinical studies and molecular research, we seek to identify early markers and risk factors for congenital disorders, supporting early diagnosis, prevention, and targeted interventions to improve the quality of life for affected infants and their families.
Neonatal Microbiome and Infection
Our research group focuses on understanding the relationship between the neonatal microbiome and susceptibility to infection. We study how microbial colonization develops in early life and how factors such as antibiotic exposure, feeding practices, and environmental influences shape this process. By exploring the role of beneficial and pathogenic microorganisms, we aim to identify strategies to prevent infections, strengthen immunity, and promote optimal health outcomes in newborns.
Neonatal Respiration and Hemodynamic
Our research group examines the physiological mechanisms that regulate respiration and cardiovascular function in newborns. We focus on understanding how respiratory support, oxygenation, and circulatory dynamics affect neonatal stability and organ development. Through clinical observation and advanced monitoring, we aim to optimize respiratory and hemodynamic management, improve outcomes for critically ill infants, and contribute to evidence-based neonatal intensive care practices.
Neonatal Nutrition and Metabolism
Our research group investigates the crucial role of nutrition and metabolic regulation in supporting growth and recovery during the neonatal period. We study how early feeding strategies, nutrient balance, and metabolic responses influence short- and long-term health outcomes. Through evidence-based research, we aim to optimize nutritional support for both preterm and term infants, promoting healthy development and reducing the risk of metabolic complications.
