Cancer remains a major global health issue, with the prevalence of cancer cases continuing to rise every year in both developed and developing countries. According to the Global Cancer Observatory, which reports estimates of the cancer burden in 185 countries worldwide, the five most common types of cancer globally, in order, are: lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and stomach cancer. Meanwhile, cancer-related deaths are most commonly caused by lung cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, and stomach cancer. The highest incidence of cancer cases is found in three regions: Asia accounts for 49.2%, Europe 22.4%, and North America 13.4%. As for cancer mortality rates, the majority of deaths occur in Asia at 56.1%, followed by Europe at 20.4%, and Africa at 7.8%.
Various measures are taken both to prevent the occurrence of cancer and to minimize the spread of cancer metastasis that can lead to death. Most cancer interventions require clinical management as well as comprehensive care to improve the quality of life for cancer patients. Cancer treatment involves actions such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy, and palliative therapy.
Surgical procedures performed on cancer patients often experience delays in wound healing. Delayed healing of cancer wounds (malignant wounds) occurs due to a combination of the tumorβs biological factors, side effects of cancer treatments, and an overall decline in the patientβs physical condition. Cancer wounds differ from regular wounds because active cancer cells damage surrounding tissue and inhibit the bodyβs natural repair processes. Cancer wounds are often necrotic and irregular, making them breeding grounds for bacteria that trigger persistent infection. These wounds frequently produce a large amount of foul-smelling discharge, which, if not managed with proper wound care management, will further delay healing. Therefore, various scientific approaches and comprehensive research are needed to support the quality of life of cancer patients affected by cancer wounds

Developing research on malignant wound management with an integrative approach to molecular biology, cancer wound care, palliative care management, and physiotherapy management, ranging from patho-mechanisms to the application of cancer wound care.
