The outreach activity on Increasing Animal Protein Consumption and Distribution of Livestock Products in Benteng Somba Opu Village, Barombong District, Gowa Regency, was carried out as a practical effort to address stunting in children. The program began with an educational session that introduced participants to the concept of stunting, its causes, and its long-term effects on child growth and development. This session aimed to raise awareness among the community about the importance of nutrition and the role of animal protein in ensuring healthy development for children.
Following the counseling session, the activity moved into a hands-on demonstration of processed chicken products. This stage provided participants with practical examples of how to utilize available food resources, especially chicken meat, through simple yet nutritious preparations. The demonstration not only highlighted cooking techniques but also emphasized methods that could support family food security while preventing malnutrition. Importantly, participants were encouraged to take part in the preparation process, enabling them to directly observe and practice the techniques introduced.
As a continuation of support, packages containing chicken meat and eggs were distributed to the attending families. This assistance was intended to help households gain access to quality protein sources, reinforcing the messages delivered during the program. The participants expressed their gratitude, acknowledging that such initiatives not only offered knowledge but also tangible support in improving family nutrition and combating stunting in the community.
