About FiSHeR-G
Welcome
Aquaculture as one of the main sources of food for global population has grown rapidly. However, it is also faced serious challenges in the form of diseases affecting fish and shellfish. These diseases threaten the health of fish and shellfish populations, and aquaculture sustainability. The Fish and Shellfish Diseases Research Group was formed in response to this challenge. The research group aims to explore, identify etiological agents, understand biology, and develop effective prevention and treatment strategies for diseases affecting aquatic species. By combining interdisciplinary approaches, we seek to utilize knowledge from the fields of parasitology microbiology, immunology and ecology to identify pathogens, mechanisms of infection and their impacts on aquatic ecosystems.Β
Vision and mission
Vission:
To be a leading research group to support sustainable aquaculture production inIndonesia through innovative research and solutions for the prevention, diagnosis andΒ management of fish and shellfish diseases.
Missions:
- Carry out innovative research on morphological and molecular identification of disease agents, biology, epidemiology, and management of fish and shellfish diseases, with a focus on prevention, control, and improving the health of fish and shellfish.
- Promote the development of aquaculture practices with a fish health management approach to
support sustainable fish and shellfish farming. - Building collaboration with stakeholders: government agencies, universities, aquaculture
industries, and international research organizations to address key challenges in fish and
shellfish health. - Conduct training and empowerment of aquaculture communities and other stakeholders to
