The Advanced Facade and Daylighting Systems Thematic Research Group focuses on investigating innovative architectural solutions that optimize natural light utilization and building envelope performance. Our interdisciplinary team explores cutting-edge technologies in glazing, automated shading, and light-redirecting systems to advance sustainable building design.

Our research encompasses various aspects of facade engineering and daylighting strategies, including smart materials, adaptive control systems, and performance optimization algorithms. We collaborate with industry partners and academic institutions to bridge the gap between theoretical frameworks and practical applications. By combining expertise in architecture, engineering, building physics, and computational design, our group strives to pioneer next-generation building systems that address contemporary challenges in energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and visual quality while contributing to the broader field of sustainable architecture

  1. To advance the development and implementation of innovative facade technologies by conducting comprehensive research on smart materials, adaptive systems, and integration strategies that optimize both daylighting performance and energy efficiency in buildings.
  2. To establish a collaborative research ecosystem between academia and industry partners, fostering knowledge exchange and accelerating the practical application of advanced facade and daylighting solutions in real-world projects.
  3. To develop and validate new tools and performance metrics for evaluating and optimizing facade systems, enabling more accurate prediction of daylighting behavior, energy performance, and occupant comfort in the early design stages.
  4. To contribute to sustainable building practices by disseminating research findings through peer-reviewed publications, technical guidelines, and educational resources, while training the next generation of experts in advanced facade and daylighting systems.

To develop solutions that enhance indoor environmental quality, reduce energy consumption, and improve occupant wellbeing.
