INTRODUCTION
The Nutrition for Metabolic Disease Prevention (NutriMDP) Research Group is dedicated to studying the role of food-based interventions in preventing various metabolic diseases. Our research focuses on identifying and evaluating natural food ingredients with potential health benefits, particularly in addressing conditions such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome.
We explore a wide range of functional foods, including plant-based ingredients such as breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis), pumpkin seeds (Cucurbita moschata), cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum), turmeric (Curcuma longa), honey, and even alternative protein sources like the sagoo caterpilar (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus). Through scientific analysis and clinical studies, we aim to understand how these foods can contribute to metabolic health, improve physiological functions, and reduce disease risk.
Our research group collaborates with experts in nutrition, medicine, and food science to develop evidence-based strategies for promoting healthier dietary habits. By translating scientific findings into practical recommendations, we strive to bridge the gap between research and public health, empowering communities to adopt nutrition-based approaches to disease prevention.
Through continuous innovation and interdisciplinary research, NutriMDP seeks to make meaningful contributions to global health by promoting food as medicine in the fight against metabolic diseases.
