Coastlines are among the most dynamic environments on Earth. They are constantly shaped by waves, winds, tides, and storms. Sea level rise, warmer waters, and changes in storm patterns are already impacting coastal areas, leading to various issues such as the flooding of low-lying areas, erosion, saltwater intrusion, and the loss of wetlands. At the same time, human pressure on these coastlines is increasing, with the population along the world’s coasts growing up to three times faster than the global average.
