The Seed Sowing Drone created by a lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Eng. Ir. Andi Amijoyo Mochtar, ST., Msc., received a special order from the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Smart Farming program that is being promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture is in accordance with the creation of the drone.
The seed-sowing drone combines the drone as a medium with an IoT (internet of things) system as an operational controller. The IoT system allows the drone to operate more effectively and efficiently in the seed sowing process.
The drone will start by determining the start and destination points through autopilot software. After that, the area of land to be sown with seeds will be determined, and the drone will calculate the time needed to spread the seeds on the land.
All of these processes are controlled through an IoT system that enables remote control and real-time monitoring.
According to the Vice Rector for Partnership, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Business of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Adi Maulana,. ST., M.Phil., the Ministry of Agriculture has ordered 100 units of Seed Sowing Drones in the initial stage.
βAlhamdulillah, it is already in the refinement stage and later the Ministry will order to Unhas for the first stage there may be 100 units,β said Prof. Adi on the sidelines of the Unhas Innovation Day 2024 event at the Atrium Mall Ratu Indah Makassar, Saturday (21/12/2024).
In producing the agricultural drone, Prof. Adi said that his party collaborated with PT Benua Maritim Innovation (Inomar) which is a business entity owned by Unhas. This company will later conduct a business process to the Ministry of Agriculture.
βWhat it looks like is what we then strive for in the concept of Unhas innovation cooperation with the business world and industry including the Ministry in it,β he said.
