Makassar, 20 November 2025 — Prof. Dr. Tuti Bahfiarti, S.Sos., M.Si., was invited as a speaker at the Internal Public Relations Dialogue organized by the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) for South Sulawesi, Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia.
The event, held on Thursday, 20 November 2025, from 08.00 to 11.00 WITA at the 3rd Floor Auditorium, Kanwil BC Sulbagsel, GKN Complex Urip Sumoharjo, carried the theme:
“Theoretical Discourses on Public Speaking and Nonverbal Communication: Implications for Public Relations Practices in Government Institutions.”
This program was designed to enhance the theoretical capacity and professional skills of public relations personnel, particularly in mastering public speaking and strengthening their understanding of nonverbal communication—an essential component that significantly shapes public perception and the effectiveness of message delivery.
During the session, Prof. Tuti elaborated on the strategic role of nonverbal communication in building speaker credibility, shaping professional impressions, and reinforcing verbal messages across diverse governmental communication contexts. She highlighted the importance of consistent body language, eye contact, vocal tone, and controlled facial expressions as key determinants of successful interaction with the public.
The dialogue continued with active engagement from participants, who discussed challenges commonly faced in public relations practice, such as handling media interactions, delivering public clarifications, and fostering public trust through ethical and effective communication. Participants expressed enthusiasm in exploring practical techniques for professional public speaking and their application in institutional duties.
