Surakarta — The academic contribution of the Media and Communication TRG of Universitas Hasanuddin was once again represented at the national level through Prof. Tuti’s role as an external examiner in the Doctoral Open Defense of the Ph.D. Program in Communication Studies, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS).
The doctoral defense, held on Monday, 14 July 2025, at 09.00 WIB in the M. Sartono Hall, 2nd Floor, FISIP UNS, examined a dissertation titled:
“Information Management and Diabetes Mellitus Risk in Family Health Communication (A Case Study on Children in Families with a History of Diabetes Mellitus in Surakarta City and Karanganyar Regency).”
As the external examiner, Prof. Dr. Tuti Bahfiarti provided an in-depth evaluation of the dissertation’s methodological rigor, its health communication framework, and the relevance of its findings to the development of family communication scholarship within the context of chronic disease. She emphasized the importance of interpersonal communication approaches in enhancing family health literacy, particularly for groups with a genetic risk of diabetes mellitus.
The involvement of TRG Unhas in this academic forum strengthens scientific collaboration between Universitas Hasanuddin and Universitas Sebelas Maret while supporting ongoing efforts to the quality of doctoral research in Indonesia, especially in the areas of health communication and family studies.
