Example: Hands-On Workshop: Designing Inclusive Living Spaces

To promote inclusive design principles, the HES Research Group conducted a workshop on creating accessible and ergonomic living spaces for individuals of all ages and abilities. This workshop aimed to educate designers, engineers, and healthcare professionals on integrating human factors into residential and public space design.

Participants worked on real-world case studies, using virtual reality (VR) simulations to assess accessibility in different environments. Experts guided them in designing adaptive furniture, optimizing lighting conditions, and improving layout efficiency for better mobility and safety. The workshop also introduced innovative materials and technologies that enhance comfort and well-being in home and urban settings.

By the end of the session, participants developed design prototypes incorporating universal design principles. The workshop demonstrated how ergonomic solutions can positively impact aging populations, individuals with disabilities, and diverse user groups, reinforcing the research group’s commitment to human-centered innovation.
