GEO SPATIAL FOR SUSTAINABLE LAND USE
Gis-Land Use Research Group
A GIS-based land resource database serves as a foundational element in land use planning, environmental management, and agricultural development.
Combines Multiple Factors and Goals in Sustainable Land Use Planning

GIS-LANDUSE

Welcome

Land use planning is necessary to guide decision makers in attempting to select appropriate types of land use, determining optimal spatial locations of the planned activity, identifying andformulating opportunities for land use change, and anticipating the consequences of changing land use policies. As a core component of land use planning, land resource assessment is fundamental at all stages of planning and implementation, and at any stage of development of an area to determine the capability, suitability, and availability of land for alternative uses, as well as its productivity, the sustainability of those uses, and their impact on other environmental resources. Use of effective geospatial information technology signifies a better decision making output and outcome.

Our Mission

Our research activities adopt the principle of green economy, i.e., gaining the optimum production and land use value, while still paying a great attention to a sustainable use of land resources for the shake of prosperity. We, therefore, put much emphasis on the multidisciplinary studies (biophysical, economic, social, and culture) within a spatial context.

Research sub-theme

Spatial-based land suitability assesment
Land use/land cover change analysis and mapping on different management units
Conceptual modelling of sustainable land use on the preservative zones.
Integratd approaches of GIS, MCDM, and Machine Learing in the assessment of sustainable land use.
