In an increasingly interconnected world, the challenges facing healthcare systems transcend national boundaries. Recognizing this reality, the Enhancement Healthy Aging (EAGING) Research Group of the Faculty of Nursing, Hasanuddin University, has initiated an international collaborative research project entitled βA Foundational Study for Reconstructing Global Nursing Education: A Collaborative Study Using Photo-Elicitation in Asian Countries.β Bringing together scholars from Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines, this research seeks to explore diverse perspectives on nursing education through innovative photo-elicitation methods, generating a deeper understanding of how future nurses can be prepared to respond to evolving healthcare demands in an aging society.
The study serves as a platform for cross-cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange, enabling researchers to identify shared values, challenges, and opportunities in nursing education across Asia. By examining how nursing students, educators, and practitioners perceive learning, care, and professional identity, the project aims to contribute to the development of a more inclusive, adaptive, and globally relevant nursing curriculum. The collaboration reflects a collective commitment to strengthening academic partnerships and advancing evidence-based educational practices that can enhance the quality of healthcare delivery across the region.
This international research initiative directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, through efforts to improve the quality of healthcare education and strengthen the future nursing workforce. It also supports SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting innovative learning approaches, international academic collaboration, and the continuous improvement of nursing education systems. Furthermore, the project embodies the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating how universities across countries can work together to address common societal challenges and create sustainable solutions for healthier and more resilient communities.
