Makassar, Indonesia December 11 2024/ CORGOV/- In today’s fast-paced business world, companies must operate efficiently to stay competitive and meet customer demands. One key to achieving this success is Supply Chain Management (SCM), a strategic approach that helps companies manage everything from sourcing raw materials to delivering finished products. A recent systematic literature review titled “A Systematic Literature Review: The Role Of Supply Chain Management In Enhancing Corporate Operational Performance,” published in the Indonesian Interdisciplinary Journal of Sharia Economics (IIJSE) on December 11, 2024, sheds light on how SCM improves company operations and supports sustainability.
SCM is more than just moving products from point A to point B. It integrates various activities such as selecting suppliers, managing inventory, and collaborating with partners to optimize costs, improve product quality, and ensure timely delivery. The review analyzed 24 scientific articles published between 2019 and 2024, highlighting that effective SCM strategies significantly enhance operational performance. Companies that adopt these strategies enjoy benefits like reduced waste, lower costs, and increased customer satisfaction.
A particularly important aspect discussed in the review is Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM), which incorporates environmental considerations into SCM practices. GSCM encourages companies to reduce pollution and use eco-friendly materials, aligning business goals with environmental sustainability. This approach is crucial for supporting several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By implementing GSCM, companies not only improve their operational efficiency but also contribute to a healthier planet and society.
The review also addresses challenges companies face in adopting SCM, such as technological readiness, resource availability, and high implementation costs. However, advancements in digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and real-time data monitoring, offer promising solutions to overcome these obstacles. For instance, during the COVID-19 pandemic, companies that leveraged digital SCM tools managed to maintain supply chain stability despite disruptions.
In conclusion, this comprehensive review from the Indonesian Interdisciplinary Journal of Sharia Economics emphasizes that effective Supply Chain Management is vital for enhancing corporate operational performance. It helps companies reduce costs, improve product quality, and satisfy customers while supporting global sustainability goals. As businesses continue to evolve, integrating SCM with green practices and digital innovations will be key to achieving long-term success and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.
