The Biomass Research Group is a thematic research team dedicated to the bioprospecting of chemical components derived from plant biomass, including agricultural and forestry residues. Our research aims to uncover bioactive compounds and functional materials that can be transformed into high-value products through sustainable and innovative approaches. By leveraging the chemical diversity of local biomass, we seek to contribute to the development of advanced materials and technologies that support environmental resilience and resource efficiency.

Our research portfolio encompasses the conversion of biomass into a wide range of economically valuable applications, such as biopackaging, bioenergy, water pollutant adsorbents, wound healing materials, hydrogels, and other functional products. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to social innovation, the group strives to bridge fundamental research with industrial and community needs, promoting biomass as a strategic resource for sustainable development and circular economy initiatives.

Mission

To explore and utilize the chemical potential of plant biomass, including agricultural and forestry residues, through sustainable research and innovation that supports the development of high-value bio-based products.

Aim

  1. Conduct bioprospecting of bioactive compounds from biomass.
  2. Develop eco-friendly technologies for biopackaging, bioenergy, hydrogels, and other advanced materials.
  3. Promote circular economy through biomass valorization.
  4. Foster collaboration across disciplines and sectors.
  5. Support knowledge transfer and community-based applications.
