JICA Japan Visit to AIMP

During their visit to AIMP, experts from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) engaged in an insightful discussion with our students from Papua, who are developing computer vision-based drones to detect diseases in sago plants. This innovative project addresses a critical need in sago farming, a vital crop for many Papuan communities, by leveraging drone technology and artificial intelligence to enhance early detection and management of plant diseases. The JICA experts provided valuable feedback, sharing their global expertise and perspectives to help refine the students’ work. This interaction not only highlighted the potential of technological innovation in transforming traditional agriculture but also underscored the importance of empowering local talent to address regional challenges through cutting-edge solutions.
